This Division was set-up in the third quarter of 2019 to broaden KGMB’s business portfolio activities to generate steady source of income and cash flow, in addition to the traditional credit financing activity to Members. Trading in Wholesale and Retailing business is stated as one of KGMB ‘s key operation activities; hence, management decided to embark upon it after a due diligence study paper on it was presented.
The management found that investing in Trading business was ‘feasible’ as it backed and assured by a competent and experienced Trading business consultant. The Trading business primarily involves in bulk buying and selling of high-quality rice gains and spices at reasonable wholesale prices from reliable importers from Ukraine, Myanmar, India, Thailand and Indonesia and subsequently branding it and packaging under KGMB’s logo under the Branding name of “AL-Gemilang” Supplying and selling it to sizeable captive retail demand market outlet buyers, that is largely comprise of renown Indian restaurants in the Klang valley.
Based on the 2019 audited figures, Gross Sales from Trading business amounted to RM177,433 with a Net Profit of RM58,996. Despite the impact of Covid-19 pandemic, the Gross Sales from Trading business for 2020, it declined and in 2022 it is expected to generate lower Sales.
As a diversified activity based Koperasi, it is envisaged all our members are encouraged to patronize and support our Trading Division at HQ and Seremban respectively by purchasing of our Trading Division quality essential goods at discounted prices.
